  • Rectangular dining or console tables (most builds): two bases. Position one at each end, parallel to the short edge of the top. This is the standard trestle configuration and what our P01, P02, and V01 bases are designed for.
  • Round or small square tabletops (under ~48″): one base. The wide trestle footprint provides enough stability to center a smaller top on a single pedestal.
  • Benches: two bases. The 16″ V01 is sized for bench height; one at each end gives the seat stable, even support.
  • Live-edge slabs and modern dining builds: the metal M14 base is a different format — a single welded steel base designed to support one tabletop on its own. Use one M14 per table.

Bases de caballete vs. patas en las cuatro esquinas

La elección es estructural y estética, no estilística.

  • Trestle bases (this collection): two wide-footprint columns connected by a stretcher (or used as paired free-standing pedestals). Leaves the perimeter clear for chairs and bench seating, reads cleaner on rectangular and round tables. Strongest support for thick or live-edge tabletops.
  • Four corner legs: distributes load to the corners, accommodates aprons and skirt rails, traditional farmhouse-table construction. See the full wood table legs collection.
  • Single pedestal: one column centered under a small round or square top. The trestle bases in this collection can do this for tops up to about 48″, but a true single-pedestal build is the exception in our lineup.

Preguntas frecuentes

For most builds, two. The hardwood trestle bases (P01, P02) and the 16″ bench pedestal (V01) are designed to be used in pairs — one at each end of a rectangular tabletop. The metal M14 is the exception: it's a self-supporting single base designed to hold a tabletop on its own. For round or small square tops under ~48″, a single trestle base can also work.

So you can size the build to the table. Most rectangular dining and console builds use two of the same base; smaller round-top builds use one; double-trestle builds for very long tables can use two paired sets. Selling individually keeps the configuration in your hands.

The hardwood trestle bases (P01, P02) are dimensioned for standard dining height — finished tabletop will sit around 29–30″ depending on top thickness. The 16″ V01 is bench height. The metal M14 base lists exact dimensions on the product page.

Yes. The two-base trestle configuration is the standard for live-edge slabs, thick farmhouse tabletops, and dining tables in the 60–96″ length range. Position the bases roughly 18–24″ in from each end of the top for the right balance of overhang and stability.

The hardwood trestle bases (P01, P02, V01) ship unfinished and are ready for stain or paint. The metal M14 ships finished. Each product page specifies finish state.
